ABOUT US
Would it be possible to create a unique showcase joining names of important Brazilians from the past with the contemporary art of great artists - little known - and show it to the world?
With this idea in mind, psychologist, painter, writer and storyteller Márcia Rocha and her children, developed the project LABF – Literary and Artistic Brazilian Festival, with the aim of giving visibility to talented lesser known artists spread across Brazil and abroad, as well as disseminating to the world, the great contribution of the still undervalued “heroes and heroines" of the past, despite their great importance to Brazil and the world.
“It all started around 2011, during “tea rounds” on cold afternoons in Italy, when my girls Gabriela, Manuela and I, thought about how to contribute to enhancing the rich Brazilian culture and art of yesterday and today. From there, between teas, lots of popcorn and cakes, the idea of the MelhorAndo association and LABF itself emerged."

From there, we put the idea on paper and sketched a large project that we divided into stages.
-
The first would be to take to elementary schools in Brazil, through storytelling, the rescue of love for our homeland, through knowledge of our abundant natural resources and ecological awareness. We did this work in Italy and France,as well as other European countries and Brazil simultaneously and it was very good on the one hand.
-
But, on the other hand, despite the many joys and positive points of getting to know, and, in a way, providing moments of incredible artistic creativity performed by children from all over the world, of whom we recognize some true artistic talents, we faced several challenges for the maintenance of the project, mainly due to lack of funding to carry out all the steps. Hence, many ideas and practices ended up being restricted to Italy, where we lived at the time, with very little visibility and little support.
-
So, in 2016, we held, with our own resources the 1st LABF that honored, among others, Tarsila do Amaral, Cruz e Souza, Manoel de Barros, Thiago de Mello, and we also held discussions on the Equality and Quality of Education in Brazil.

We are a non-profit association whose objective is to disseminate Brazilian art and culture - in Brazil and abroad - through permanent, cultural and artistic education activities, contributing to human and social formation.
All forms of ignorance, intolerance, violence, censorship, injustice, discrimination, racism, forced solitude, are potential targets of the M.I.C.A - MelhorAndo International Cultural Association
